Harris Museum 14.1%

EndoTherm was piloted by Preston City Council at the Harris Museum.

Opened in 1893, the museum and art gallery is a grade I listed building located in Preston City Centre. The Harris collections cover fine art, decorative art, costume, textiles, archaeology and local history. It also houses the city’s public library.

The museum, which covers four floors with large ornate period radiators is heated by 4 boilers, each with a max output of 200kW.

EndoTherm was installed in January 2016.

Being a grade I listed building, the museum and art gallery is subject to strict preservation and conservation guidelines. Introducing energy-saving measures while respecting and preserving the building’s historical and architectural features can be challenging. EndoTherm is able to be installed and provide savings without making any changes to the building.

Due to the age of the building its structure and the presence of large ornate period radiators throughout presents challenges for heat distribution and energy efficiency. EndoTherm still is able to deliver savings on energy consumption despite these challenges.
